Spring has Sprung

Every morning, I woke up, slipped my feet into my pink, fuzzy slippers, and trudged to the kitchen. I headed to the kitchen window, looked out, and saw--well, actually, I didn't see much, as I have to wake up around 5:40 and it's really dark. But later in the day, I can look out the window and see that the grass is growing green finally! With each shade of green, I grow happier and happier. I can't wait for the trees to have leaves again!
This week was practically above average. The perpetual days seemed to never want to end, but the week went by fairly quickly.
In English, we started our poetry unit. At first, I was rather wary about it, as the poems she handed out didn't even rhyme! I wondered how I would be able to manage without rhym
ing poems, but I somehow did! =) The first poem we had to write was supposed to be centered around something that, in our past, someone might feel sorry for us, but that we didn't mind. So, after making a list of maybe three things, I finally decided on one that I could make a beautiful poem out of. Here it is:
Risen for a Reason
As lilies in the springtime,
I rose with the sun.
Chirping birds sounded.
Through trees, squirrels would run.
Dawn presented a beginning,
Wonders lit the sky.
It was my own treasure,
While others in bed would lie.
Bleary-eyed and yawning,
Stretching out of bed,
Mind still closed,
With a worry-free head.
I managed to feel the freedom
Of an unburdened world.
Creatures dancing freely,
And along with them, I twirled.
Some thought I was foolish
To wake up when I could dream.
But I knew what they were missing,
A world full of wonder,
The sky full of gleam.

I was really proud of myself when I finished! =) The following day, we had to write another poem on a person, place, or thing that we enjoy.

Together Forever
I will not always remember
but
I can never forget
the times
our family spent
by the ocean
the feel of the wind
and sand
between my toes
and the waves
mesmerizing everyone
and the smell
and comfort it brought
to be together
and not apart
or arguing
or mocking
but safe
and content
and at peace
and harmony
making memories
just us
Together

While I enjoyed this one, I still think I prefer my first poem.
Anyways, English made my days this week. That was, however, until I had to go to Geometry and be humiliated for not knowing the theorems. Then, I would at least spend two more periods in despair.
Despair, jealousy, love, anxiety, contentment...... While all of these may be felt with family, they can most certainly be apart of relationships with friends. I love my friends, and try to support them as best I can, and am crushed when I'm not able to. But, this week, I made it a definite priority, even though Abs tried to make that impossible, right Abs? Yes.
The softball game was amazing!
I'm so glad I went. I think that you don't know a person until you see them in their own world, doing what they enjoy. (Even if they aren't big on softball, they did sign up for it. So, either way, it's a part of them). Though, we didn't win the game, no one on our team was injured. I count that as a bonus, or at least a trade-off. Abs, Em, Kayla, Maddie, and the rest of the team played AwEsOmElY!!! pa*chow!!
Now, I get to go prepare for General Conference. I am so excited, and I pray that everyone will be able to find the answers they are needing.
Happy Spring!
